Student Internship and Practicum Opportunities:

 

THE FOLLOWING INTERNSHIP AND PRACTICUM OPPORTUNITIES ARE ONLY AVAILABLE FOR INDIVIDUALS AS PART OF A COMMUNITY COLLEGE / UNIVERSITY PROGRAM REQUIREMENT

 

On-going Position:  Changing Seasons Treatment Services, Inc., is seeking students in pursuit of substance abuse treatment experience- via Internship, Practicum, and/or clinical placement.  This clinical experience is being offered at our Criminal Justice Partnership Programs site(s). These are monetarily unpaid positions, but the opportunity will be enriching and the experience truly valuable and rewarding.

 

Criminal Justice Partnership Programs (CJPP) are outpatient substance abuse treatment program that works with individuals that are either at an intermediate or intensive level of probation, or on parole, and that have a substance abuse problem.  The services provided by CJPP include Assessments, Intake Interviews/ Orientation, Regular Outpatient (ROP) Substance Abuse Group Treatment, Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Substance Abuse Group Treatment, and Individual Counseling Sessions.  We work closely with the Department of Community Corrections and the county court systems, advocating on the behalf of our client?s and promoting substance abuse treatment over incarceration.  The CJPP OPSA Treatment Program is also a component of a Day Reporting Center (DRC) in Bertie County and a component of a Resource Center in Edgecombe County.  The primary Practicum/Internship site is in Martin County (Williamston, NC), but other sites may be available.

 

Internship Students placed with a CSTS, Inc. CJP Program will be given the following opportunities/ have the following expectations:

 

  • Conduct Assessments and Intake Interviews
  • Co-facilitation, building to facilitation, of the Regular Outpatient (ROP) Substance Abuse Group Treatment Sessions
  • Co-facilitation, building to facilitation, of the Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Substance Abuse Group Treatment Sessions
  • Conduct Individual Counseling Sessions
  • General collaboration with the Department of Community Corrections, Day Reporting Center, Resource Center, and other pertinent referral/collateral agencies
  • Administrative/Clinical paperwork associated with the above services

Practicum Students placed with CJPP will be given the following opportunities/ have the following expectations:

 

  • Conduct an average of six (6) one-hour Individual Counseling Sessions per week
  • If Desired, Co-facilitation of the:
    • Regular Outpatient (ROP) Substance Abuse Group Treatment Sessions
    • Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Substance Abuse Group Treatment Sessions
  • Administrative/Clinical paperwork associated with the above services
