Driving While Impaired (DWI) Program and Services:
Changing Seasons Treatment Services Driving While Impaired (DWI) Program is designed to cut down on the alcohol/drug related accidents in North Carolina and cut down on the recidivism rate for persons charged with this crime.
The CSTS DWI Program provides pretrial and post-trial assessments for persons charged with DWI, DWI in a Commercial Vehicle or Driving After Consuming Under the Age of 21. The Program refers assessed clients to the appropriate treatment modality such as ADETS or Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment as outlined by the General Statutes concerning placement criteria for assessed DWI clients. The CSTS DWI Program serves Lenoir, Washington and Martin Counties and the surrounding areas.
Changing Seasons Treatment Services is a fully licensed facility authorized to offer DWI assessment services including alcohol/drug counseling and educational programs. All of our counselors are experienced and specialize in the area of substance abuse treatment.
Our services are available in a professional and comfortable environment where privacy and ultimate wellness are our top priorities. Groups are held during the day and in the evenings to accommodate various schedules. The initial assessment can be scheduled to help meet any court mandated time constraints.
To schedule an appointment for a DWI Assessment the individual will need:
1. $100.00 Assessment Fee (Cash or money order only)
(or $109.00 if we obtain your Driving Record for you)
2. Driving Record (certified copy, dated within the last 6 months)
3. The breathalyzer or blood test results (obtained at the time of arrest)
If You've Had an Assessment and It was Completed in the Last Six Months:
1. The individual will need to sign a release of information in order for us
to obtain the record from the assessing agency
2. The individual will need to set up an intake appointment with the
counselor. Once these steps have been completed the individual will
be able to begin group.
Pretrial Services:
While the majority of those accessing services may be post conviction, we are here to serve the needs of the clientele who are pretrial as well.
The reasons for obtaining a pre-trial assessment are simple: Upon conviction, the individual will be required by DMV to obtain a substance abuse assessment and comply with the recommended education or treatment before their NC License will be reinstated. If this is completed prior to court it will become a mitigating factor during sentencing; it will provide the attorney with the documentation required to obtain a limited driving privilege if the individual is eligible; and, it meets one of the requirements that the court/DMV will impose upon the individual.
We also provide assessments for individuals with other charges such as underage possession of alcohol, open container or any charge that may be the result of alcohol or drug usage.
